I was a 1LT Huey pilot. No officer with any integrity or honor would have used a little known clause in the Navy regulation to jump ship after 4 months. All the officers I knew would have stayed their whole tour, not abandoning their men and fellow officers. When Kerry left early, someone replaced him. I wonder if that officer is alive?
