American Pravda

The most-discussed speech of the Republican Convention is the Zell Miller’s, like it or loathe it. I’ve noted that it was not a page one story at the NYT, whereas Barack Obama had appeared there. But the matter is worse. Zell Miller is a non-person to the NYT, reminiscent of Stalinist Russia. Am I unfair? Here are the screen shots of the internet version of the Times at 11am EDT on the day after the speech. No link to the speech, no link to commentary on the speech, no link to the controversy about the speech.

All 100% Zell-free. In today’s bonus NYT coverage, the newspaper of record finally waddles in with a Zell story, and amusingly, its photo of Zell shows him with the book he is selling, helpfully implying that he is generating controversy to make a few bucks. Paragraphs 2 and 3, and most of the rest of the piece, are the Democratic response as well as GOP misgivings. Super swell, Times!
