The Logic of the Corruption of the Newsweek Poll
We pretty well, in conjunction with The American Thinker, Powerline, and Political Vice Squad, established yesterday that the Newsweek poll is corrupt. The Newsweek poll is corrupt for either of or a combination of two reasons: selling magazines and/or ideological agenda.
Almost all other polls are commissioned by news organizations, which, like Newsweek, want to hawk their wares, and which, like Newsweek, are populated with reporters and editors who are up to 12 to 1 in the tank for Kerry.
So why are we are heartened when we see today’s WaPo poll showing Bush up 5% among likelies? The Washington Post company owns Newsweek, so why is a WaPo poll any good, when a Newsweek poll has been shown to be crooked.
Why do we believe today’s Pew poll with Bush up 5% among likelies, when its poll three weeks ago, still in the glow of the RNC, Bush was only up 1% among likelies and was tied among registered voters?
These same questions need to be directed at the CBS/NYT poll, the AP/Ipsos poll, and particularly to the CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll, which has Bush and Keery now even, but two weeks ago had Bush up by an incredible 13%!!
These are not trivial questions in an environment wherein editorial decisions are so ideologically blinkered that the SwiftBoatVets were ignored and Rathergate is seen as no big deal. Are other polls corrupt like Newsweek’s?
