Networks in Graphic Decline

We have written at length about the growth of the New Media, partly coming at the expense of network news, which had an audience of 60 million in 1980. We have also noted that the most prestigious daily newspapers, like the NYT and the WaPo, have experienced declines of 8-12% over the last decade — the Times’ is particularly bad considering its simultaneous increase in availability nationwide during that period. However, we never saw a network decline chart, until we were tipped to this one by Bill at INDC, who gets it from Journalism.org — so here it is:
