Olympia, actually. That’s the location of Evergreen State College, whose distinguished alumni include Corey Pein and Rachel Corrie (HT:IWF). Pein is the author of a “witless screed” (RLS) in the Columbia Journalism Review contending, among other things, that the Rathergate memos might not be phony. LGF and our hero Joseph Newcomer, once again show young Mr. Pein to be a buffoon. The question arises: in addition to his $34,000 per year education at CJS, what other learning does this lad have going for him? If he is typical of his college, the answer is: not much.

Evergreen State is an Education-Free Zone

Evergreen State has no grades:

Students at Evergreen do not receive letter grades. Instead, you’re evaluated in detailed, written narratives by faculty that become part of your academic transcript. Your self-evaluation is also included. Experience has shown us that these noncompetitive transcripts are valued by employers and graduates schools because they are more descriptive and revealing than traditional grades.

Evergreen, unsurprisingly, has virtually open admissions with 95% of applicants accepted.

Senior Foamer or Attorney General?

The education at Evergreen State, and apparently at Columbia Journalism School for that matter, probably qualifies you to be a Senior Foamer at Starbucks. On the other hand, since Dick Thornburgh couldn’t tell that the Rathergate memos were transparently phony, maybe Corey Pein is qualified to be Attorney General.
