The real answer of course is that Kerry can’t stop making up stories about Vietnam — even now after doing so helped cost him the presidency. But the fantasies keep on multiplying. Regarding the Magic Hat, Kerry said on Meet The Press (HT to LGF):

I still have the hat that he gave me, and I hope the guy would come out of the woodwork and say, “I’m the guy who went up with John Kerry. We delivered weapons to the Khmer Rouge on the coastline of Cambodia.”

The Khmer Rouge, in case Kerry doesn’t remember, was the popular name for the Communist Party of Kampuchea, and a source of one of the worst holocausts of the twentieth century, with over 2 million victims, and which is currently still being investigated and documented. Nixon was bombing Communists in Cambodia in 1970, not running guns to them. Was Kerry on a secret rogue mission to aid the enemy?
