Global warming is about man’s need to propitiate the gods
The Left are not atheists, they just have their own religion. Man needs to pay for his comfort with burnt offerings and propitiation to the gods, and the hubbub about Global Warming is just that. (See this Guardian article for info on the correct way to genuflect.) Silly for us to have thought that the Left were mostly atheists; they merely want to worship a god that they have created in their image. The god of the Left thus demands that capitalism be punished for its sins. Hat tip to this very unusual piece about the Liberty Bell in The American Spectator for the insight that religion is everywhere, perhaps especially so among the assertively non-religious.
The depth of man’s need to pay for his success in some way inspires awe. We are set up, on a very deep level, to require a god or God.
Global Warming is a kind of religious belief in that it is unprovable, it is distant, the cure for it involves suffering, and that if it actually occurred, it might benefit far more people than it inconveniences.
