Noel Gallagher: beacon of common sense in the rock music world
NOEL GALLAGHER is convinced LIVE 8 will never achieve its lofty aim of persuading politicians from the world’s richest countries to eliminate debt owed by poorer nations. The outspoken OASIS guitarist believes rock stars simply don’t have the influence needed to affect the G8 decision makers - and believes all their hard work will be in vain.
He says, “Correct me if I’m wrong, but are they hoping that one of these guys from the G8 is on a quick 15 minute break at Gleneagles (in Scotland) and sees ANNIE LENNOX singing SWEET DREAMS and thinks, ‘F**k me, she might have a point there, you know?’ “KEANE doing SOMEWHERE ONLY WE KNOW and some Japanese businessman going, ‘Aw, look at him… we should really f**king drop that debt, you know.’ “It’s not going to happen, is it?”
Outspoken British rocker NOEL GALLAGHER has slammed rap stars EMINEM and 50 CENT for encouraging dangerously high levels of violence in British youths. The OASIS guitarist hates hip-hop music because of the negative message it gives to fans, and he is convinced the IN DA CLUB rapper and his mentor contribute to society’s growing problems.
The SUPERSONIC star says, “I despise hip-hop. Loathe it. Eminem is an idiot and I find 50 Cent the most distasteful character I have ever crossed in my life. It’s so negative. I’m not saying they are directly responsible, but that’s how you end up with these gangs of youths stabbing people. Kids are so thick these days. They’re easily influenced.”
Gallagher’s a funny fellow, who apparently has quite a bit to deal with in his own family. Does he pal around with Paul O’Neill, we wonder. In any event, he was right about the big waste of time called Live8.
