Sandy Berger’s dox in his sox and Able Danger: merely a coincidence in timing?

We have noticed a little coincidence, and we wonder if there is any significance to it. Could Jamie Gorelick, the fox in the 9-11 Commission henhouse, have inspired former National Security Adviser Sandy Berger to put the dox in his sox? Recall the incident, via Fox:

Berger admitted that twice during 2003, he knowingly removed classified documents regarding the government’s anti-terror efforts and notes from the National Archives Annex in College Park, Md., by putting the papers in his jacket, his pants and in a leather case. That’s a misdemeanor that can bring a maximum sentence of a year in prison and a $100,000 fine.

He said he was reviewing the materials to help determine which Clinton administration documents to provide to the independent commission investigating the Sept. 11 terror attacks. He called the episode “an honest mistake” and said he “deeply regrets” taking the material.

According to a statement released by the Justice Department on Friday, Berger took the documents to his office in Washington, where he destroyed three of the copies. Soon after he visited the Archives in October 2003, building officials discovered that documents were missing and, two days later, contacted Berger.

Meanwhile, we have now learned the timing of one of the earlier briefings of the 9-11 Commission regarding Able Danger, via The New York Times:

Al Felzenberg, who served as the commission’s chief spokesman, said earlier this week that staff members who were briefed about Able Danger at a first meeting, in October 2003, did not remember hearing anything about Mr. Atta or an American terrorist cell. On Wednesday, however, Mr. Felzenberg said the uniformed officer who briefed two staff members in July 2004 had indeed mentioned Mr. Atta.

You may think this is a bit far out and a stretch. You would be right. Yet something inspired Berger’s actions and the timing of those actions. What inspired them is now of greater interest than it used to be.

UPDATE

We see that Dr. Sanity had the same suspicions, and before we figured it out.

Guess who was star of Blitzer “new” show today? Bill Clinton.
Question of day, after Jack(a**) Cafferty expounded on:
“peace, buget surplusses, growing economy blah blah blah”
was “Would you like to see Bill Clinton back in the White House”
Wolfless then joked “well that would mean as the first husband,
    not president” Ha Ha
Joyess that they got over 1.000 replies “in such a short time”,
    Pitiful.
Can’t help but recall a comment to a post about Fox being called
the “F-word” network by Cafferty”: What word does that make
    CNN?
    Jerks!
