Why the Able Danger charts disappeared

Fond as we are of speculation, we have not mentioned to date the China connection to Able Danger. However, it keeps popping up of its own accord. What we have been told now is that the defense contractor James D. Smith worked for got canned in its data mining efforts for the DOD after it produced a certain chart, which identified a number of “prominent American businessmen” and “former government officials” with potentially inappropriate relationships with China. Niles Lathem in the NY Post:

The Able Danger work was transferred to another Department of Defense contractor — and the program quietly expired later that year when it was completed, the official said. The China chart was put together by James Smith, who confirmed yesterday that his contract with the military was canceled and he was fired from his company because the military brass became concerned about the focus on U.S. citizens.

“It was shut down in a matter of hours. The colonel said our service was no longer needed and told me: ‘You just ended my career.’ ” Smith also claims his team came up with 9/11 hijacker Mohamed Atta’s name and photo in 2000.

In the world of mystery fiction, a classic device is that a lie is covered up for a reason totally separate from the apparent mystery. So it may be that the apparently very effective work of Smith’s data mining company got deep-sixed for reasons at once nefarious and unrelated to 9-11. We have no idea at this point. However, if Smith is telling the truth, his company’s work caused sufficient trouble that it ended the track to general for a certain colonel. It is now trivial to understand why the documents have disappeared from the Pentagon.

On August 22, 2005 sent out emails re the FrontPage story:
First time I’ve seen this as part of “Able Danger” and “wall” puzzle.
    Pertinant graph copied here:

Click here: FrontPage magazine.com :: The Writing on “The Wall” by Thomas Ryan
“The wall between agencies was not new; it had been created during the Carter administration via the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which was enacted to defuse allegations of FBI espionage abuses. But Gorelick’s 1995 efforts served to strengthen the barrier and made it abundantly clear that cooperation between intelligence and law-enforcement agencies was forbidden. It should be noted that at the time Gorelick wrote the foregoing memo, the Clinton administration was contending with investigations into illegal Chinese contributions to Bill Clinton’s presidential campaigns; thus, the memo served its intended purpose of stifling the inter-agency inquiry.”

I have sent out email regarding other dots in this story and posted the following
comment to Jack Kelly’s post at Irish Pennants early this afternoon that is
summary and my own observation. Only time will tell if signals by MSM will
    prove me astute or idiot.

When I first saw the connection, in an article posted at FrontPage, I felt that was the reason that the NYT’s began publishing stories on Able Danger. Prior to that FrontPage piece, I was sending out emails “Be afraid – NYT’s on our side”. Well, last Sunday’s “60 Minutes” had an interview with the former CIA analyst in charge of Bin Laden (wrote the book as Anonymous) who was very critical of Richard Clark (one of last year’s star interviews) and George Tenet for interfering with the CIA’s analysis and recommendations regarding Osama.

When “60 Minutes” allows statements such as “I wear all the Clark criticism of me as a badge of courage”, we know something is going on.

Something too big for even the NYT and the network of Dan Rather to hide or spin.

If a radio network stealing money from children and old people is not a story to these people and they can refuse to report it, what would really be new in their trying to spin and discredit the Able Danger story. 911 has already happened and we already know that our intelligence agencies were very remiss, but what is new here? They missed the meltdown of the USSR, they missed fact that Saddam had nuclear program at time of Gulf War, just one more failure.

But if the real story, and the real and unforgivable crime, is that the wall was made higher to interfer with the investigation of the money that Bill Clinton was receiving from the Chinese and that to get this money, he and his administration were giving and allowing the Chinese to steal secret military technology, that would be too big to spin or ignore.

If this is not actual treason, I cannot imagine that even Carville and Begala will be able to spin it for the “normal” American. How the MSM is reacting to this story and what
they allow in interviews regarding the Clinton administration should be a guide to what is now hidden.

Remember that many former Clintonistas are now part of the MSM, they were on inside and know things we do not. Irony here is that the Far Far Left is not happy with Hillary and may be helping via the MSM to get coverage on this, to knock her out of the 2008 race.

The colonel said our service was no longer needed and told me: ‘You just ended my career.’ ”
Career ending” information is out there and CYA deals will insure we never get whole story. Hillary will just decide to stay in Senate if she actually wins in 2006 with just the inuendo swirling around the Wall/Able Danger/Chinese connections, and if she does win will she “be allowed” to continue on committees that involve our national security or choose to get on those that cover domestic issues.

This will be a large clue as to what deals were made and what will still be hidden in 2007 (New Senate)You may think I am getting way ahead of the facts here. Well, being disabled gives me many hours to fill by reading and surfing through the Cable News and CSPAN channels, and I am continually riled by the choice of words, tone and
facial expressions used by the MSM to get their disdain or disbelief across.

I am seeing a shift and the convergence of the Able Danger story with the split of Democrats. So before considering me an idiot or worse, just fine tune your watching and reading. It will probably be early 2006 before we even see the climax of act one.

Act three will have to wait for FOIA to kick in, many of us will no longer be earthbound.

Nuance will rule. Wonder who and what will be in “60 Minutes” spotlight this Sunday?

Update: Just don’t lose track of the timeline of the raising of the wall as it relates
to the Chinese/Clinton $$ and then connect this with the immediate stop on the
program when the Chinese enter into it. The turning up of Condi is smokescreen.

  2. owl Says:

Agree Condi is a China smokescreen. I want the other names. Kerry will show as I remember seeing something during the campaign. But who are the others?

  3. Phillep Says:

    > The colonel said our service was no longer needed
    > and told me: ‘You just ended my career.’ ”

Well, now. Can this officer talk?

Bush Sr was in office between Carter and Clinton. Why didn’t he knock holes in that wall? He had to know from his own experience how that made gathering and using intel that much harder.

  4. larwyn Says:

Phillep, you have touched on something. I have been quite dismayed that the Republican members of the 911 Commission seem to have been duped and
out smarted by the Demos on the Commission, whose sole goal was protecting
    the Clinton Administration.

But what if the real deal is that all the things that would be wildly embarassing to
the Clintons could be parlayed with all that could be same to George H. W. Bush.

After all, it would be presented as water already over the dam. And it would be a
much larger embarassment to the United States of America. It would show
corruption at the highest levels of our government (we know that existed with the Clintons) and also show the weaknesses of our National Security. What has
already come out regarding our intelligence agencies is bad enought.

But think how bad for our world reputation it would be if the intelligence agencies
are eliminated as the scapegoats. That would mean that the highest levels of the Clinton administration were too afraid to act, that America is weak. This
makes sense if you consider that the deal would have been made prior to the
formation of the Commission, a reason it took so long for G.W. to agree.

And at that point, after Afghanistan and with the ultimatum having been given
to Iraq, we were going to prove that we are not weak, but it would not have been good to split the country by showing what a weak joke this country had
as President for 8 years. More than the failure to go after OBL, it is the
selling of technology to, overlooking the stealing of technology by and the spying
of China for the few grubby dollars that went into his campaign that should turn
everyone’s stomach. The China/Able Danger connection is the key here. And that is also what would make America look very
foolish on the World stage. That is why they love him, they know him as a
true brother, no better than they are.

I think that now someone in the Administration has had enought from the Left
and all bets and deals are off. This would explain the statements by the
Republican Commission members where they contradicted themselves.

The “real” reality may have set in, that there is no secret from the senior
Bush Administration worth protecting if that would mean another Mr & Mrs.
Clinton residency in the White House.

May seem as if I am writing a conspiracy novel if you’re not an avid reader
    of history.

Able Danger is being silenced beacuse Atta was part of a CIA backed heroin smuggling ring. Check it out! http://64.70.236.57/08172005.html
