Islam and football
Get your burka, honey
Five years ago, the dreary imams came out against women’s football, according to this BBC report:
Women’s football has reportedly been banned by the authorities in Nigeria’s north-west state of Zamfara, following the recent imposition of Islamic Sharia law. The state director of sport Shehu Gusau was quoted as saying that women playing football was “unislamic”. “The sport is against the teachings of Islam,” he added.
Now it’s the men’s turn, via a Pakistan Daily Times report of another BBC story:
LAHORE: Ulema in Saudia Arabia have issued a fatwa (religious decree) declaring football an un-Islamic sport, and have urged the youth to quit it immediately, BBC radio reported on Saturday. According to the report, the clerics urged the youth to indulge in jihad and other constructive activities that could help the Muslim ummah, the radio reported. The ulema argued that football wastes a lot of time and the participants wear shorts, which they said was an un-Islamic dress, the radio reported.
Loathsome does not come close to describing people whose relation to good values is 180 degrees out of phase.

“We don’t want you to be physically fit”
Fine with me. Sure that a very great majority of those in our Armed Services
grew up “big and strong” by participating in organized sports.
If the Iman thinks that learning teamwork, leadership and strategy while
developing stamina, reflexes, coordination and strength is “un Islamic”,
I say great.
We could help him here, by shipping Cheetos, Doritas, Lays and Pringles.
They already have their cable stations.

Something is seriously wrong with any culture that cherishes death, destruction and mutiliation more than simple athletic competition.

Sometimes, I think Islam (as preached by these jihadi fakirs) is unislamic.
