The man who didn’t retire

RIP Chief Justice Rehnquist, via CNN:

Rehnquist adjourned the court in late June amid speculation that he would resign before justices reconvened in October for the new term. He quashed that idea in July, hours after he left a hospital where he was treated for a fever. “I want to put to rest the speculation and unfounded rumors of my imminent retirement,” he said in a written statement. “I am not about to announce my retirement. I will continue to perform my duties as chief justice as long as my health permits.” He returned to work the following day. Rehnquist’s announcement followed the surprise retirement of 75-year-old Justice Sandra Day O’Connor on July 1.

This was a man with a plan, up to the very end. We frankly marvel at the cascading of events in America over the last several months, and seek to understand their underlying meaning. In the meantime, we wish the Chief Justice eternal rest.

The good news in all of this is that the Liberals must self destruct! They cannot afford to let this court swing into conservative control. Therefore, batten down the hatches -shore up the bulkheads and prepare for general quarters! When they get into full swing, their party will smell worse than the Superbowl. The more they panic, (and they will, along with several RINOs) the more outragious they act, the more votes they will loose.
