Our boring, tedious peaceniks

They are the few and the scruffy, our peaceniks (see MM). Half a dozen of them, or maybe tens of thousands, showed up to………to do what exactly? Listen to Cindy Sheehan, or Jesse Jackson or Ramsey Clark. How boring is that? Reuters tried to portray the current march as a big deal, stating that there were 100,000 people in attendance, but offering zero justification for that obviously exaggerated number. Then Reuters upped the ante:

The crowds swelled throughout the day, and by late afternoon organizers of the anti-war demonstration said 300,000 people had assembled — exceeding an anticipated 100,000. Washington police declined to comment on the size of the rally.

Yeah, sure, 100,000; 300,000 — whatever. All we know is that we heard the same speeches 35 years ago, given by mostly the same people, and the speeches were boring then. The crowds were far larger back then, no matter how the protest fogies try to spin current events. Today’s protest sure wasn’t this:

Or this:

It’s just as the Anchoress says: the Left is boring, boring, boring, humorless. Change the channel.

UPDATE

Gay Patriot asks: “If Iraq is like Vietnam, how come the rallies keep getting smaller?” We propose this photo as one answer. (HT: Bruce Kesler)
