A further thought on Eason Jordan’s comments in Davos
2005 is the year that the MSM came out of the closet as overt instruments of the Left. True, a good case can be made for 2004, with Abu Ghraib, al Qa Qaa, Rathergate, and NYT ombudsman Daniel Okrent’s landmark piece. But it seems to us that 2005 marks the year that, for the most part, the liberal media have just given up on pretending to be other than who they are. From the wishful thinking or hope on the part of the New York Times that the Iraq war is cannot be “won” (see Powerline), to the Times’ telling Judy Miller that she is no longer a welcome member of the team, to the MSM’s open cheeleading for serial fabricator Joe Wilson, to Camp Cindy, to the French press downplaying the riots to keep “rightwing” politicians out of power, there seems to us a refreshing openness in the MSM about just how far Left they are.
This brings us once again to the topic of Eason Jordan, and the method behind the madness of his comments earlier this year. If the MSM contain many reporters who have silently or obliquely wished for the defeat of the US and despise the military, it makes perfect sense for them to project these feelings onto the military whom they would then see as, in turn, targeting those reporters.
We initially thought that Jordan’s comments were very strange; now they seem fairly easily explicable.
UPDATE
Based on these comments about ridiculous scenes in Jarhead by Froggy, and the upcoming Syriana, which we can tell you will be even worse, we wonder whether Hollywood types will soon say that the military is targeting them. Just wait.
During a training exercise where the Marines were crawling through mud beneath barbed wire, the Staff Sergeant running the evolution used live machine gun ammunition to fire over the heads of the trainees. A trainee becomes rattled and suddenly jumps up and takes a 7.62mm round in the head. The Staff Sergeant then walks over and yells at the now dead Marine for having been shot, and remains in command of the platoon. Impossible
During the Gulf War there are horribly burned Iraqis? strewn throughout the desert. Many of these burnt corpses are positioned in a manner to suggest that they were civilians bombed in large groups. During a patrol, a member of Swofford’s platoon is caught somehow playing or otherwise fiddling with a stinking, burnt corpse. Absurd
Swofford and his spotter (they are a sniper team) are assigned by their CO to shoot two enemy officers in an air traffic control tower at a military airfield in their sector. The two get in position for the shot and obtain permission to engage the targets only to be interrupted by a Marine Major barging into their hide unannounced. The Major informs the pair that their sniper shot is canceled and that he will be calling for an airstrike on the target instead. In response, the spotter (not the shooter) who is a Corporal has what amounts to a mental breakdown over the issue that they were not going to have the chance to shoot an Iraqi officer from 900m. The Corporal physically assaults the Major in the process of begging him to allow them to shoot the officers prior to the airstrike. Ridiculous.
Upon completion of the “sniper mission” the pair become separated from their unit and are left wandering the desert at night. They eventually happen upon their unit engaging in a half naked drunken beach party complete with bonfires, loud music, and loaded weapons to celebrate the end of the War. Swofford remarks to his partner that he hadn’t fired his weapon during the entire conflict and fires into the air. This is followed by the entire unit firing full auto into the sky like the mourners at a Palestinian funeral. Unthinkable.

I noticed this leftist media in the seventies, when even conservatives (who didn’t know how to critically read well) would be surprised at my beliefs. Well it has been a hell of a lot more obvious.
They started deceiving, like a little kid testing the ankle deep water and then gradually diecided that they could plunge in full time in a big way.
I recall Them covering for Kennedy’s Chappiquidick swim, Dukakas getting buried by the “race” ad that Al Gore had actually used in the primaries. Dukakas finally admitted (the obvious) a few weeks before he lost, that yes! He was a liberal after all. The media denied it more than even he did.
And Bill Clinton was allowed(some say encouraged) by the media to outragously claim that it was the worst economy in 50 years! They cleverly hid his “Slick Willy” shennanigans during that entire election -even though there was a book of that title out for months.
The election of “04″ was where they really came out as far left propagandists and have been witholding truth, creating stories, and shamelessly lying since George got in.
If anyone doesn’t see the MSM for what they are and what their goal is, they need either psychiatric hlep or ar uneducable!
Yes, there are plenty today that will deny the outragous bias, but they know, believe me they know, because their idiology of relative truth and, the end justifies the means, makes it, not only OK to lie, but requires that they do it with the greatest of skill.
A sure sign of America’s coming demise is the fact that so many tolerate the biased press. As they said about Bill when he finally got caught (the blue dress) yes he lies, but he’s our liar!

I think the msm, in the last 18 months or so, is not so much coming out of the closet, as realizing that more and more of its potential audience sees the msm for what it is – anti-capitalist (oh the irony), anti-military, anti-religious (except for Jesse and Al) and above all, anti-American – and has decided it might as well take the gloves off and go down swinging. (Think of the efforts it made to get John Kerry elected, and think how triumphant it would be if he had been elected.)
But imo as more and more Americans see the msm for the Quislings/Quislings-in-waiting that they are, the quicker they will become irrelevant.
