Maybe it was the ghost of Bill Casey who outed Plame

Bob Woodward has sometimes been accused of being late to reveal information, like knowing that Colin Powell opposed the 1991 Gulf War before the Congressional vote, but not revealing it until his book later. He always seems to attend the A list parties, however, and Plamegate is surely that. So today we learn, via WaPo that “Bob Woodward testified under oath Monday in the CIA leak case that a senior administration official told him about CIA operative Valerie Plame and her position at the agency nearly a month before her identity was disclosed.” Our favorite part is this: “Woodward did not share the information with Washington Post Executive Editor Leonard Downie Jr. until last month, and the only Post reporter whom Woodward said he remembers telling in the summer of 2003 does not recall the conversation taking place.”

What does it mean? Maybe Tom McGuire will tell us, but we have a feeling that Plamegate will now be a feature of whatever book the author/reporter is curently working on.
