A premise for a potboiler: Iran attacks other Gulf states, not Israel

Suppose a fanatical president of Iran attacked, not Israel, but Saudi Arabia, taking out the Abqaiq processing facility at Ras Tanura, and Yanbu on the Red Sea, thereby eliminating 75% or more of the country’s oil export capability of 14MM bpd. Oil would go to $200 or higher a barrel. Iran’s piddling 2.5MM bpd of exports (and its not so piddling 126 billion barrels of reserves) would make it difficult for the cowardly world to do anything. The Shiites would become, in the deranged thinking of the Iranian leader, dominant over Sunnis. And here’s the best part of his plan: he blames it all on the Zionists — and half the world believes him.
