2006: the year the Islamists lost the war for hearts and minds

There was never a question of Islamists winning anything in a military sense.  They have no military.  The principal state backing Islamist terrorists, Iran, has a military budget 1% of America’s.  If the Islamists were to win anything, it would have to be a campaign based on hearts and minds, psychological intimidation, and strategically applied terror.

Now they have lost, permanently it seems, the war for hearts and minds in this corner of the West.  From Ahmadinejad’s denying the Holocaust and threatening to obliterate Israel, to the unrepentent and victorious Hamas calling for the same thing, to the London thugs threatening to behead Englishmen and take Danish wives as war booty, to the Sunnis blowing up Shiite shrines and killing women and children, to the Shiite reprisals, to the unrelenting violence on both sides in Iraq, the Islamists have contrived to make themselves and their religion look disgusting. Even worse than these acts have been the worldwide cartoon riots: mobs with primitive bloodlust killing people over drawings, like something out of anthropology class.  These riots, making Islamist rioters look like animals, and making the mute among their co-religionists look even worse in their silence, have also brought renewed focus to the atavistic and revolting beliefs of the Islamists about art, the status of women, and their real plans for the Infidels.  Many Americans have begun to ask: who would want to have anything whatsoever to do with Islam after watching such a violent, threatening, prehistoric and tasteless display of nearly sub-human behavior?

Mind you, no glory has covered the governments of the West or the Mainstream Media during these Islamist outrages.  They look weak and cowardly in their failure to stand up for the Western values for which millions of our forebears have fought and given their lives.

Doubtless bad times lie ahead.  Ahmadinejad or his proxies may well blow up New York or unleash smallpox in their insane bid for eternal glory (and to avoid their deepest fear).  And the MSM and politicians like Red Ken, George Galloway, and some Americans may give them aid and comfort in the near term.  As well, some ordinary Europeans and Americans may continued to be cowed by the thuggish Islamist crowds.

But we think the tipping point we discussed last week may have been reached, at least in America.  There is no benefit of the doubt for Islamist sympathizers in America now, and precious little for Arabs and Muslims generally, as the Dubai controversy has demonstrated (see TKS and our piece on Dubai).  You may disagree with the propriety of this, but we believe we are describing a real feeling abroad in the countrty.  We see Americans ask: how much is the pious palaver about a “religion of peace” worth when we see on TV and the Internet daily Muslims riot and kill for no reason at all, and slaughter each other without a second thought?  “Peace” seems now to been firmly supplanted by “submission” in the minds of many Americans.  In this sense it perhaps no longer matters what happens in Iraq.  If the Iraqis can make a go of it, fine; if not, America did the right thing by taking the fight over there, and by giving them a shot at a decent life.  If they can’t capitalize on it, screw them, we hear Americans whispering.

We would not be surprised if the American people soon say that it is time for the Islamists and their fellow traveler co-religionists to stew in their own juices.  Let them kill each other and fantasize about how the Ummah — a culture seemingly largely without economic prosperity, science, technology, religious freedom, many of the arts, and women’s and minority rights — is meant to rule the world.  Dream on, Islamists, but do it on your own time and don’t do it near us, Americans might say.  If America reaches this decision to disengage, however, it is very important that we enunciate a plan very much like the Chirac Doctrine.  We must leave no doubt that an attack by terrorists will be countered by a thousand-fold response by the US on the likeliest candidate(s) for being the state sponsor.  That would solve a lot of problems, except one.  The US has to ensure that it never again elects a man like Jimmy Carter as President, so that America’s ultimate deterrent always has credibility.

Your analysis is spot on, Dinocrat. You’ve got your finger on the pulse of most Americans. We’re running out of patience with the Islamic world and its apparent inability to live in reasonable peace and harmony among themselves and with their neighbors.

A brief comment: You keep getting better. Don’t burn out.

I was and still am a staunch supporter of our endeavor in Iraq. However, the assinine insanity of these cartoon riots has certainly pushed me toward a viewpoint as quoted above from your article. Basically I am beginning to believe that all members of the RoP are primitive imbeciles incapable of learning anything and incapable of operating in their own best interests, a conglamoration of sadistic, masochistic fools bent on self-destruction. Again, I repeat, I am a very strong supporter of this war but drawing very near the point where I say a pox on them.

All those who are weekly readers to your site all agree with you and the comments posted.

Add to those politicians, exPM of Canada, Paul Martin, Jr., ex President Jimmy Carter and
    exVice Pres Al Gore.

The problem is how to we render the MSM out of business, convince the masses in America and Europe that we are at war and the politicians to publically support an active campaign of carpet bombings and deportation.

If the West is to survive, if the men and women want it to survive, this is what we must plan for.

Watching the video at http://www.nefa.org has removed any doubt that we are at war and that future generations of unborn are counting on us to take out the trash.

On theotherhand, I do not want to see any Americans sacrifice their body parts to save the eurabians, especially the british who made their own bed by experimenting with untested social liberalism; i.e., allowing those from failed and aggresive cultures to enter their country in such large numbers.

I find myself agreeing with you quite a bit. But I hope that the Iraqis can remain civilized.

I don’t know how much long term hope their is for the survival of Western civilization (or just plain civilization, as I think of it) if the philosophy and ideals undergirding it cannot be spread, even by force, while every form of malignant tribalism and fanaticism spreads like a virus. It doesn’t take a competent military force to overthrow a civilization, just a hefty population of barbarians.

Thank you for an important article. I am not sure I agree with all of your statements.
But, I do think we are in WWIII which will last generations. If we are defeated, it will be because of political correctness in our leaders and MSM, cowardice in our MSM, and a public swayed by the dems, rinos, and MSM. Isn’t Jimmy Carter the best example of our peril?
So if we fight PC, dems, and rinos here at home and stay committed in the worldwide war on terror, we will prevail. I have faith that we will prevail.
But, I am troubled each time President Bush takes a step left or to satisfy the MSM (e.g. Harriet Meiers, Dubai Ports World, our open borders/mass amnesty policies) and encouraged every time he swings back to his conservative beliefs (e.g. Roberts, Alito).

Thanks again for a nice article.

    Great post.

Your analysis applies equally well to the sentiments here in Denmark and (albeit to a lesser degree, I think) in the rest of Europe. We’ve definitely had it, and I think the consequences of this controversy will be far-reaching here in Denmark and elsewhere (with the possible exception of Sweden.) Recent polls has revealed a landslide in the political landscape. The right-wing parties (who has been in office since 2001) enjoys a support unparallelled since the 1930s and I think the Social Democrats (which, historically, has been the largest party in Denmark) will be out of office for a very long time, maybe forever (there are signs of disintegration.) Also, I’m pretty sure that the lying danish imams will be expelled when the storm has settled.

To the benefit of the danish muslims it should be noted that there has been absolutely no riots whatsoever (that I know of) here in Denmark – only a peaceful demonstration way back in September.

Our major failure to prevent this Islamic revolution was when Jimmy Carter allowed Iran to depose the Shaw and showed them that they could attack a US embassy with impunity and bring the great satan to its trembling knees. This was the very conception of the modern radical Islamic movement -it should have been met with destruction of their infrastructure and oil terminals and facilities each and every day until they relenquished our personel. Thanks again liberals for your anti-American cowardness and alolowing this sleeping monster to awake and be unleashed upon the world. Your arrogance blinds you to what should be you own pure unadulterated shame. The many that die because of your feel-good weakness is imeasurable.

    Excellent article -good thinking!
