From Fort Sumter to Gettysburg in a couple of hours
March 1, 2006 — THE reporting out of Baghdad continues to be hysterical and dishonest. There is no civil war in the streets. None. Period. Terrorism, yes. Civil war, no. Clear enough? Yesterday, I crisscrossed Baghdad, visiting communities on both banks of the Tigris and logging at least 25 miles on the streets. With the weekend curfew lifted, I saw traffic jams, booming business — and everyday life in abundance…. You are being lied to. By elements in the media determined that Iraq must fail.
Pretty effective lie – it had us very concerned.
UPDATE
We refer you to another upbeat Peters’ piece Dude, Where’s My Civil War? as well as Bill Roggio on al Qaeda attacks in Iraq being disguised as sectarian violence. So far, so good. However, we also note that Omar at Iraq the Model is worried about southern Shiite machinations. If he is correct, the West might have to add another bit of information about Islam to its list: Taqiyya or permitted deception about one’s real beliefs, which is what Omar thinks is going on with some leading Shiite politicians.

I was stuck in a rural area without cable when the Mosque was blown up. Restricted to NBC (watched MSM for the first time in decades) I was reminded just how unprofessionally biased they were by hearing the pronounce the next day about a half dozen time the FACT that Iraq was in a state of CIVIL WAR! What un-American dufouses.
