A little less hagiography might make things a little more convincing
We don’t know about you, but there have been quite a few bad apples in our family, including (we think) thieves, drunkards, grifters, ne’er-do-wells, layabouts, draft dodgers, capitalists, a defrocked priest or two, and some municipal employees. Furthermore, these are only the miscreants we know about, and only the infractions committed in this country, before more than a few of our forebears sneaked into America from Canada or as stowaways who landed clandestinely in New York harbor.
So you’ll pardon us if we don’t believe the pious palaver from the President on down about how holy and sacred are the current crop of illegals. Our family came to this country, not to do the jobs that Americans were unwilling to do, but to continue their careers of grifting, cadging free meals and fleeing Cossacks, in a new place where their past offenses were unknown and unrecorded. (Maybe they should have headed straight for Australia!)
Based on observing our family, we have very clear views about what we’d do if we were in charge. Stop them now! By a factor of ten, the most important thing is to stop illegal immigration dead in its tracks today by closing the border tight as a drum. There is, by contrast, no frightful urgency about resolving the thorny practical and philosphical questions of people who are here today. The critical thing is to stop making matters worse. If we were only to stop making matters worse, we’d instantly create more time to clean up America’s current mess.
Moreover, it has been troublseome for years that radical Marxist illegal immigrants come to America with a doctrine of destroying our country, and have made common cause with Islamic radicals (this anti-semetic Aztlan site even has the Danny Pearl beheading video — nice.) There is zero excuse for letting this population increase. Probably this group has been an historically small number and percent of illegal immigrants, but perhaps that is no longer true. (Anyone who tells you he knows the numbers is lying.) It is obvious to us that matters have crossed a line when foreign flags usurp the place of US flags, and outnumber US flags at a large, rather mainstream demonstration like the one in LA.
Yet for the most part all we get from the President and both sides of the aisle in the Senate are outlandish praise for the illegals: every one a Betsy Ross, a Nathan Hale, an Edison or an Einstein. Awful, just awful. Really, what we hate most of all is the lying rhetoric from the team we’ve thrown in with in these last years; we expect it from the MSM and the Left, but on this issue, as with our ideological Cold War against Sharia, the administration and much of the GOP is as bad as the Left — worse, because we (mistakenly) expected more from them. Given our family heritage, it is shameful to have been conned by such amateurs.
