The loss of manliness, straight talk and the survival instinct
Our enemies seem powerful, whether they are La Raza Marxist illegal immigrants seeking the reconquista, or religiously empowered and motivated Muslims seeking to impose sharia worldwide. Meanwhile, the elites and governments of the West chit-chat like girls, disapprove of strong and clear talk, and pursue very limited military, political and diplomatic ends with the zeal and conviction of a clerk in a Charles Dickens novel.
We hear from time to time that strong, aggressive emotions are brewing just below the surface in the West, but so far the evidence of this is rather slim. Indeed, whether on illegal behaviors of various sorts, or the savages who want to enslave us, precisely the opposite appears often to be true.
We take our first example from Victor Davis Hanson. We always enjoy reading VDH, this time on the inappropriate behavior of illegal aliens marching like they are the moral superiors of the citizens of the US. Maybe he is right when he says the following, but we fail to see the righteous outrage of many citizens and almost all of the elites:
If the demonstrators thought that they were bringing attention to their legitimate grievances — the sheer impossibility of deporting 11 million residents across the border or the hypocrisy of Americans de facto profiting from “illegals” who cook their food, make their beds, and cut their lawns — they seemed oblivious to the embarrassing contradictions of their own symbolism and rhetoric. Most Americans I talked to in California summed up their reactions to the marches as something like, ‘Why would anyone wave the flag of the country that they would never return to — and yet scream in anger at those with whom they wish to stay?’ Depending on the particular questions asked, polls reveal that somewhere around 60-80% of the public is vehemently opposed to illegal immigration.
When we look around the world today, we fail to see outrage from those who should be outraged. There are a few examples in the blogosphere and elsewhere of righteous anger at the supercilious and scandalous behavior of many people who are, after all, criminals, but there’s almost none in the MSM or in the highest reaches of government; indeed, many govenment officials fall all over themselves praising the largest group of entirely voluntary criminals in American history, excepting the Confederacy. Instead, we see the other side fired up with fierce emotions while our elites call for calm and detachment on our part. And it seems to have worked, at least so far. Americans seem mostly passive in the face of illegal immigration that will, if unchecked, ruin the country (pick the number that pleases you — 10MM, 20MM, 30MM, 40MM).
The response to Muslim terror and their avowed objective of creating a worldwide Dar al-Islam, is, if it is possible, even more feckless. Frenchmen are supine before their Muslim rebels from Africa (or the second generation) who literally are kicking the **** out of the natives. English police protect people carrying signs to behead the police, which they arrest counter-demonstrators. The US government and the elites are mute or mumbling in the face of Cartoon Riots that put a tribal, primitive, barbaric face to our enemies and adversaries; their reaction is the same when our allies are unapologetic about their religious calling to kill Christians. That same US government fails to engage in the ideological Cold War against Sharia that is the great struggle of our time, though the American people are desperately in need of rallying for the long fight, and in need of straight talk about the challenge of Islam.
Raw emotions — the emotions needed to wage successful war — are downplayed, disapproved of by the elites, strained like sterno through a chamois. Worse still, the actual waging of war appears to have taken on the political flavor of Vietnam — our strikes must not be too hot, nor too cold, but just right. Vermin like Sadr are left alive while American soldiers are scrutinized about whether they gave proper warnings before shooting people who want to kill them. All the wrong people get arrested, while the guilty are allowed to roam free and dominate the airwaves. A criminal like Ahaminejad and his terrorist state feel free to promote terror, deny the Holocaust, kill Americans in Iraq, threaten to cut off global oil supplies, and become nukemaker to the terrorist world, and the West responds like girls, with series upon series of UN meetings, consultations and chit-chats.
Our enemies behave like they went to War College and its graduate school, and our side sounds like they majored in conflict resolution at Sarah Lawrence. We can’t believe this has happened in the West, and certainly not in America. Who are these men who talk and act so passively? Who are these weaklings, that they cower before such unworthy foes? It is bad enough that men like this will get us killed and undo America’s brave history; what is almost worse is that they are deeply offensive aesthetically — all that preening and self-congratulation before the cameras, so smug as they lead us down a path to decay and destruction.

Agreed. These people are barbarians. They do not have a culture worthy of equal respect, or IMO respect at all. They have produced nothing, invented nothing, and inspired nothing except atavistic bloodshed spanning 1400 years. It’s time we started treating them as such in our public discourse.
If we could bring to bear the vast difference in the morality of our culture over theirs, we could shatter their superiority myths and perhaps defeat the sick parts of their culture. This battle needs to be fought on the ideological front.

No MANLINESS LEFT IN THE LEFT = NYU chooses appeasement!
When you’ve sucked the manliness out of your men, you’ve nothing left but wimps. And the gals have not as yet spent enought time at the gym.
AT POST:
NYU chooses appeasement
On Wednesday night, NYU chose appeasement over upholding freedom of speech on campus. An NYU-approved Objectivist student group spent significant time, money and effort to advertise to the public its “Unveiling the Danish Cartoons” panel discussion with the administration’s knowledge (and its involvement in planning the event’s logistics.) Suddenly, responding to the threats and cries of Muslim students and their worldwide supporters, NYU changed the rules the night before the event: keep out the public and we’ll let you show the cartoons, or don’t show the cartoons and we’ll let the public to attend. In effect NYU said: “We’re going to sacrifice your right to free speech one way or another; we are too afraid to protect a civilized forum for the discussion of free speech because we’re intimidated by a screaming mob that is potentially violent.”NYU caved to intimidation rather than insist that every student has the right to express his thoughts, no matter whether they are unpopular or might offend someone. If NYU seriously believed that there were security risks involved, they ought to have provided sufficient security.

This isn’t new. War, real red national war, is a profound calamity. There are always those- sometimes many- who see the horror and deceive themselves about how it can be avoided. Neville Chamberlain, Charles Lindbergh, and George McLellan weren’t evil men, stupid and wishful yes but they had seen war and tried to avoid it. Sometimes that is the proper thing to do. Would the U. S. be better off if it had joined the allies in 1914, fought England in 1794, or tried to coerce the south in 1834?
The Senators Clinton, Kerry, and Durbin- and, tell the truth, President Bush too- just choose to believe in the Sarah Lawrence system. They are wrong and stupid too. Shrinking from this fight is a tremendous mistake, and betting our future on the democracy lab experiment in Iraq is as fatuous.
Our weakness insures that we will have to fight the Moslems when they are stronger, and at times and places of their choosing.
Even worse, while we expend our strength in the sham battle with them, our really dangerous enemies watch, laugh, learn, and prepare.
In all the Islamic world there is not a single tank, jet, warship, rocket, or hydrogen bomb factory.
But there are lots of them in another place…
