The mysterious Nigerian ‘militants’ and the high price of oil
You almost always know there is some funny business going on when the MSM hides behind the catch-all ‘militants’ as in this piece in the FT:
Oil nears $69 as Iran tensions mount. Oil prices shot back towards record levels on Monday amid growing tensions over Iran’s nuclear ambitions after weekend press reports claimed that the US government was studying military options for action….
Crude prices were also supported by aggressive rhetoric from militants in Nigeria who have threatened to kill workers who have returned to oil platforms that were shut by earlier attacks. About 0.5m barrels a day of Nigerian output has been lost because of attacks by militants.
What’s going on, you ask. Reading the story does no good in finding out who these ‘militant’ people are causing all the trouble and what their strategy is. well, let’s meet a ‘militant’, Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, and find out, via BBC:

You just know the real punchline, don’t you? But you have to read pretty far down the BBC story to find out.
He was born Dokubo Melford Goodhead Junior, to a high court judge and a housewife….He abandoned a second attempt to earn a degree in law at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology due again to his activism. It was about this period that he converted to Islam and adopted the name Mujahid Dokubo-Asari….
Mr Asari is a burly man of 5 feet 10 inches (1.78m). He is soft-spoken and an easy-going person who is passionate about his convictions, especially, on matters he views as injustice. He is given to fits of anger….Mujahid Dokubo-Asari is a voracious reader who loves to visit friends to discuss issues. He leads a strict Muslim life and is married to two wives, with six children.
As of the time of the BBC article two years ago, this gem of humanity was in jail on charges of treason, but his friends seem to be up and about, do they not? They are trying to implement their plans to burden poor Nigeria under the yoke of sharia, and at least 13,000 people have died so far in their jihad.
Just remember, when you see the weasel-word ‘militant’ in the MSM, chances are you know what you are going to be reading in that MSM story is ‘news’, not news.
