From Harriet Miers to Wenyi Wang?
We don’t have any particular problem with Wenyi Wang’s odd and ineffectual protest the other day. All things considered, we probably agree with Michelle Malkin on the topic. But what would cause the White House or the Secret Service to think that she wasn’t going to cause a ruckus? Her press affiliation was Epoch Times, a publication of Falun Gong, on whose behalf she had previously stirred up trouble. She was persona non grata in China: her passport was refused by Chinese authorities on multiple occasions and she was forbidden to enter that country. Tiny Malta denied her press credentials in 2001 fearing she would cause problems for visiting president Jiang Zemin — which she did, with a number of photos to document the confrontation. Don’t they have Google at the White House?
Her’s our question: was admitting Wenyi Wang to the White House a clever ruse on the part of the Bush administration to send some message to China, or mere incompetence? Maybe Cindy Sheehan should get herself a press pass so we can investigate a little further.
