Misleading anti-war headline of the day

Reuters:

Army suicide rate last year highest since 1999

Only when you get far into the scary story of how the Iraq war has driven soldiers to suicide, do you find out all the relevant facts, that the actual number of soldiers is tiny, 83, that the difference between 1999 and the present is insignificant, and that “the Army rate remained lower than the rates for U.S. civilians.” So much for Reuters hypothesis that “the increase was caused by mounting combat stress on deployed soldiers as the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan grind on.”

Note well that our enemies read the American press and use this kind of garbage for their own ends. Zarqawi (sp?) gave a shout out to military suicides in his latest video.
