Ahmadinejad confirms our view of his letter as a dawa and declaration of war
The Islamic Republic News Agency confirms that, as we said, the Ahmadinejad letter constitutes a dawa and, in effect, a declaration of war (HT: LGF):
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Thursday that his letter to President George W. Bush did not concern the nuclear dossier, but rather was an invitation to Islam and the prophets culture….”We act according to laws and our activities are quite clear. We are rather intent on solving more fundamental global matters. “The letter was an invitation to monotheism and justice, which are common to all divine prophets. If the call is responded positively, there will be no more problems to be solved,” added the president. The president said that the letter actually contained a clear message of invitation to human beliefs, adding that its response will determine the future.
Of course, since George Bush and the United States have no intention of converting to Islam as demanded by Ahmadinejad, the phrase “its response will determine the future” is, in effect, a declaration of war on the part of Iran, as we have also said. This really isn’t all that difficult, kids. As Ahmadinejad has repeatedly said, and reiterated above, “We act according to laws and our activities are quite clear.” Indeed they are, and no doubt, in their willful ignorance, the MSM will devoutly pretend otherwise.
Feel free to ignore the above. As we have said, it doesn’t matter what foolish Americans believe at this point; Ahmadinejad and Iran will have their war, no matter what the MSM or the Left or anyone else want to believe. Our choice is only to be prepared or to be surprised.
UPDATE
Jihad Watch gives us all an excellent example of the willful ignorance we spoke of above, the kind of fairyland which will, sadly, result in many more Americans than necessary losing their lives before our enemy is crushed. The issue is the beheading of Christian girls by Muslim men:
These benighted misunderstanders of Islam were evidently foolish enough to think that when the Qur’an says to “strike the necks” of unbelievers (47:4; cf. also 8:12), that it actually means, “strike the necks” of the unbelievers. The fools! They’ve probably been listening to Islamophobic rhetoric, or watching “United 93″! Don’t they realize that the Qur’an is a document of staggering complexity, and that it can only be properly understood by Saudi-funded American professors who spend years in concentrated study, enabling them to determine that “strike the necks” actually means “hug the necks”? You have to read it in the original Arabic, you see, and use your secret Qur’anic Arabic decoder ring, which likewise renders “beat her” (Qur’an 4:34) as “tell her how much you love her.”
Feel free to ignore this too.
UPDATE II
Ahmadinejad is consistent in his rhetoric, we’ll grant him that. His pronouncements in Indonesia about Israel are straight from his letter to George Bush — Israel will cease to exist, Europe should take the Jews back if WWII treated them so badly, etc. No one has a legitimate right to be surprised when Ahmadinejad acts on the statements he makes consistently, day in and day out. Oh, but our MSM and so many others will be surprised just the same, won’t they?
UPDATE III
Via neo-neocon, some more Islamic history plus this: tyrants mean what they say.
UPDATE IV
Amir Taheri adds more flavor to the same stew.

Ahmadinejad’s Latest Declaration…
Well, it now appears that Iran wasn’t sending President Bush a love note earlier this week. It was a call to submit to Islam or face the consequences. Just as Robert Spencer had said when the contents were first revealed.
