Ahmadinejad’s excellent war plan

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has every reason in the world to believe that his war plan for the worldwide domination of Islam has been endorsed by Allah. After all, it is working brilliantly at the moment, and has been, more or less, for the past 27 years.

From the time that Iran committed an act of war upon the United States in seizing the US embassy in Teheran without paying a price, Iran has been mostly advancing and the West has been mostly retreating; moreover, a number of events in which Iran has not been a direct actor have developed in its favor, surely evidence to Ahmadinejad of Allah’s hand. To name just a few instances:

(a) the 1979 embassy takeover;
(b) the (recently renewed) fatwa on Salman Rushdie, for which Iran has paid no price;
(c) the Iran-Iraq War, which led to the training (and breeding) of millions of suicide-soldiers called the Basij;
(d) the killing by Iran, without serious reprisals, of thousands of Jews and others throughout the world over the last two decades directly, and through clients Hezbollah and Hamas;
(e) the US war in Iraq, which eliminated the threat of another invasion by Saddam Hussein;
(f) Hamas’s victory in Palestine, which created a popularly elected government bordering Israel that is committed by its charter to the destruction of Israel and is a client of Iran;
(g) Iran’s nuclear program, in which the EU has been neutered and the US inactive;
(h) Iran’s support of Iraqi insurgents, in which they have supplied deadlier IED’s, training and personnel, all without reprisals;
(i) the Cartoon Riots, in which the West cowered and betrayed its most basic values when confronted by violence and threats of violence by the men of Islam, many of whom were sponsored by Iran;
(j) Ahmadinejad’s threats to have Israel wiped off the map or Jews relocated to Europe, which have been met by silence or empty words;
(k) the Madrid and London bombings, the French riots, and the increasing harassment of non-Muslims by Muslims throughout Europe, all of which have been met with calls for understanding, tolerance, and even greater appeasement;
(l) Iran’s oil cartel, with allies Hugo Chavez, Evo Morales, and Nigerian Islamists, among others, which has successfully kept oil prices at record highs, at a time when Iran really needs the funds;
(m) active and public Islamist cells in the US, and undoubtedly clandestine cells as well, unmolested by US authorities;
(n) and many more items we have overlooked.

For our part, we believe Iran and Ahmadinejad when they say that Israel will be eliminated, or the Jews moved back to Europe. We believe them when they state their conviction that the day of Islam’s dominance and the return of the Mahdi are imminent. We believe them when they state that they will use their nuclear weapons. We believe them when they state that any destruction of Iran’s nuclear facilities will be met with massive global terrorism by thousands of devout Basiji martyrs, disruption of oil supplies, and terrible destruction visited upon Israel and the West. Why shouldn’t we believe them? They have been setting the agenda with violence and threats of violence for three decades now. Iran has mostly succeeded and the West has mostly cowered and offered even more appeasement.

Thus, you will kindly forgive Mr. Ahmadinejad if his rhetoric appears fiery and apocalyptic. After all, he has every reason in the world to think he is winning. If he thinks his global mission to the universality of Islam is succeeding, and that the return of the 12th Imam is imminent, why shouldn’t he? The West is already behaving like it is conquered; why should he not fancy himself the conqueror?
