US Government waddles in with the Osama-Saddam connection memo
We had this last March, but today we learned from Ed Morrissey that the US Government’s FMSO has finally gotten around to translating the highly interesting Iraqi memo of September 15, 2001:
1. Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban Group in Afghanistan were in touch with the Iraqis and that group of the Talibans and Osama Bin Laden had visited Iraq.
2. The United States of America has evidence that the Iraqi government and Osama Bin Laden’s group expressed cooperation among themselves in bombing targets in American.
3. In case Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban were proven to have been involved in carrying out these terrorist operations, it could be possible that the United Stated will attack both Iraq and Afghanistan.
4. The Afghani consul heard about the connection between the Iraqis and the Osama Bin Laden group during his stay in Iran.
You may recall that one of the more amusing things about this memo surfacing last March was that the MSM said that the memo didn’t mean anything — it had “limited evidentialry value,” because it said what the MSM did not want to hear or report.
Similarly, we note today, the number of Americans who say that Saddam had WMD at the time of the US invasion has jumped enormously in the past year, despite “persistent press reports” to the contrary. The truth of course is that, while the number and significance of the of the WMD munitions in Iraq is open in debate, significant numbers of WMD munitions have actually been found in Iraq, persistent press reports to the contrary or not.
