New Media doing pretty well
The New Media began with the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine in 1987, as we have written. Today is its semi-official 18th anniversary. The New Media are doing pretty well, if this Pew Study is any indication; New Media audiences seem to be among the best informed Americans.
It is interesting how uninformed are those Americans who watch MSNBC and similar outlets. We note that the internet has matured as a source of news, with over half of men getting their news “regularly” from the web:
It was only in 2004 that the growth rates in heavy internet usage of over 50% a year predicted precisely this outcome, as we discussed. Now it has arrived. It will be interesting what it portends.
