“Broad strata” of society trying desperately to kill you — please connect no dots
There’s nothing to see here folks. Please don’t connect any dots from Dearborn to Cairo and Montana, to London and Birmingham. You’ll find nothing in common among those who “intended to be mass murder on an unimaginable scale.” Undoutedly they and their families come from broad strata of society, and have nothing whatsoever in common. Please connect no dots. You might find yourself called bad names; on the other hand, you just might find yourself alive.
We hope the authorities entertain us this morning, as they have in most of the instances above, by resolutely failing to say a word about Islamic terrorism, and by calling the latest round of misguided ones “youths” and such. We wonder what the BBC meant by this: Police had spoken to a “good number of community leaders to make them aware that a major operation was under way…” Must be the broad strata community, since there’s no mention of any “community” at all otherwise in the story — no “community” whatsoever.
How come the police didn’t identify which “community” they were talking about. Worse still, how come the MSM journalist from the BBC had absolutely no curiosity to ask what the policeman was talking about? PC will get us all killed — and pretty soon at this rate.

President Bush just let a little reality in, saying in Green Bay this morning that this situaiton is “a reminder that this nation is at war with Islamic fascists.” Nonetheless, the answer that the government proposes is to search your Norweigian grandma’s knickers and wheelchair, and to take away her Poli-Grip and Listerine.
Maybe the Islamists should switch tactics and just focus on annoying us to death.
UPDATE II
President Bush, in the quote just above, underlined once again that we are in a war with Islamic fascists. A war implies soldiers, and soldiers are typically young and male. So young, male, Islamic and fascist might be a good thing to watch out for — according to President Bush. But we still shy away from the rather obvious implications of our own logic.

By the way, just what kind of “students” do these guys look like? Advanced degree in box-cutting, perhaps?

Next year, look for a terrorist plot involving exploding underwear. Then we’ll have to fly naked.

If we overreact to the point where millions of passengers can’t carry a laptop onto an airplane, then they have beaten us. We’re just waiting for the next command. When there’s a conspiracy about bombs in ships, look for multi billion dollar ship precautions and follow on delay and expense. Train bombs? Inspect every boxcar with the new Federal Department of Every Box Car Inspection.
What strikes me is that they are winning huge economic victories without taking a single casualty. They just have to find some jihadis who are willing to “conspire”, get caught, spend a few years in a safe western prison, and come out as heroes. We- as we permit our masters to direct us- deserve to lose. Our craven reaction is the disproportionate one- far more surrender than the attack warrants.
