The current rules of war, from VDH

The current state of play is not encouraging. Here are a few of VDH’s high points:

1. Any death — enemy or friendly, accidental or deliberate, civilian or soldier — favors the terrorists. The Islamists have no claim on morality; Westerners do and show it hourly. So, in a strange way, images of the dead and dying are attributed only to our failing. If ours are killed, it is because those in power were not careful (inadequate body armor, unarmored humvees, etc), most likely due to some supposed conspiracy (Halliburton profiteering, blood for oil, wars for Israel , etc.). When Muslim enemies are killed, the enemy…are seen…through the grim prism of Western colonialism, racism, and imperialism….

2. All media coverage of fighting in the Middle East is ultimately hostile…Trash the U.S. military and you might suffer a bad look at a well-stocked PX as the downside for winning the Pulitzer; trash Hezbollah or Hamas, and you might end up headless on the side of the road….

3. The opposition — whether an establishment figure like Howard Dean or an activist such as Cindy Sheehan — ultimately prefers the enemy to win. In their way of thinking, there is such a reservoir of American strength that no enemy can ever really defeat us at home and so take away our Starbucks’ lattes…

The last point is the key, in our opinion. The exquisite consciences and grand egos of many in the West are obsessed with how they look in the mirror or on TV. They can’t imagine, as of now, that abstract, academic questions of who is right and who is wrong can be replaced — even in America — by the question of who will survive and who will not. Our unceasing, implacable enemy will see to it that this question presents itself, perhaps soon.

I once knew a very sick individual who used to beat his wife if he had a bad day at golf. He once told me he worried about his own men shooting him in the back when he was in Viet Nam.

America too has a Party shooting us in the back at every opportunity in this war against terror.

I believe that todays whacko liberals had better realize that they are part of the terrorist problem. You cannot enable and assist the terrorists at every turn, in your quest for power without being seen as the enemy also. They have at last, totally exposed themselves as being willing to destroy America in their desire for power.

This Lieberman lynching was the final straw and the fools celebrated (along with the terrorists.)

A century ago, when my grandmother was presented to Edward VII, what Briton would have imagined seas unruled by the Royal Navy, or a pound that would only buy a little bottle of water? The United States is not invulnerable from great decline, even if undefeated in war.
