The tiny tot litigators of Portland and Multnomah County
In an on offensive and transparently fraudulent political screed that begins, “We, the Children and Youth of the City of Portland, OR and Multnomah County, in order to establish our basic rights,” some creepy adults have put forward a list of demands by “children”, sure to be litigation tomorrow. Excerpt:
e. Freedom from Discrimination and Prejudice: We have the right not to be discriminated against based on our race, color, religion, sex, age, mental or physical disability, national origin, sexual orientation, marital status, familial status, political views, source of income, gender identity or any other basis prohibited by applicable federal, state, and local laws. Such discrimination poses a threat to the health, safety and general welfare of the citizens of Portland and Multnomah County and menaces the institutions and foundation of our community. We have the right not to tolerate any disparaging or insensitive attitudes aimed at the above characteristics.
What kind of idiots is America producing, that we pretend that children write like lawyers and government bureaucrats, and that anyone thinks this is a good thing? Children’s “source of income”? Their “marital staus”? Kids are writing to protest discrimination because of their “marital status”? Hey, Portland and Multnomah County, if you haven’t figured it out yet, kids are single. (Perhaps Portland and Multnomah County wants to import arranged marriages for underaged girls from the benighted corners of the world — is that the agenda?)
The only thing more foolish and offensive than these phony children is the government that takes them seriously. The Mayor’s website has posted that the above language come from “the document created by hundreds of children and youth from Portland and Multnomah County on June 1, 2006.” Hah! The City Council actually voted to approve this nonsense. God save us from children litigators and the governments that promote them! (HT: Ace)

I’m not surprised.
Portland is basically where people who think Seattle is too conservative (and SF too expensive) wind up.

I lived in Portland for years. The place is simply nuts. The corruption is at 3rd World levels and what one sees on the streets of downtown is a real freakshow. I reside now in Oklahoma City, where people are normal.
