Two funny stories — or not
If the American people believe either of these stories, we’re in even worse trouble than previously imagined:
(a) Dixie Chicks documentary could be election issue; and
(b) Iran Says It’s Ready for ‘Serious’ Talks
Five years ago, the MSM and the country were caught up in the “summer of the shark“. Now it’s the nonsense above and the facial hair of a certain nobody. Live and learn?

It’s August 22! I hope you’re blogging from your bomb shelter. Of course, nothing can stand up to the 12th Imam, so we’re all probably screwed anyway.
I was just listening to Michael Medved spar with a Berkely professor about Bush’s Big Lie. Debating these people is like trying to pin down an eel. He forced the lady to admit that Bush has never said that Saddam was involved in the 9/11 plot, and she immediately shifted to Cheney’s statement that there were connections between Saddam and Al Qaeda. When Medved points out that having connections to Al Qaeda is not the same as being part of the 9/11 attacks, she just ignores him and keeps talking. Then some caller joins them and reiterates her assertion. By this time, I’m wondering why he bothers with people who can’t be reasoned with.
A few years ago, it occurred to me that most Americans learned their critical thinking skills from television commercials. A lot of us still get our news from Jay Leno, Letterman or Jon Stewart.
Some years ago, I read an essay by Hugh W. Nibley titled “Victoriosa Loquacitas: The Rise of Rhetoric and the Decline of Everything Else.” In it he describes the effect that the Sophists and their rhetorical tricks aimed at persuasion rather than truth had on the ancient world. They seems to be sucking the life out of our culture as well.

In what warped reality do these people live in?
