World’s most boring October Surprise
Is anyone else as tired of this weak political theater as we are? We’ve seen it all before in various incarnations, over and over again. First, leaked and possibly misleading portions of an NIE report critical of Bush appear in the MSM, then Congressional Democrats “react” to the surprise, then brave retired generals slam the people they worked for but a few months ago. The Democrats ought to hire some new October Surprise consultants. Ho hum. (We know — it’s still September; maybe there’s more interesting material waiting in the wings.)
UPDATE
The White House will declassify the NIE, which might demonstrate who’s being naughty and who’s being nice in this matter. Hugh Hewitt intimates that the misuse of the NIE may have been anticipated by Rove & Co in their strategy, in getting Democrats to charge into a “political box canyon.” Can the GOP help make the October Surprise therefore more interesting?

Some people never learn; I just can’t believe that they haven’t learned from the Mike Wallace debacle. Hasn’t anyone at the DNC ever read that politically prescient short story, “The Augean Stables”, by Agatha Christie? Karl Rove, indeed…

The easily repeatable ability to get the Democrats and the drive by media to charge, lemming-like, into an easily disproved allegation in a hate-Bush pigpile, is both pathetic and predictable. If Karl Rove is responsible for this, he is a genius, although on wonders just how much ingenuity one really needs to get the ignorant and lazy minds of liberals to jump off the figurative cliff.
To give them the benefit of the doubt, I am sure that they thought that they could make accusations using a leak from a classified document with no fear of the classified material coming out to put the lie to their lips. Once again, W’s “strategery” has left them hoisted by their own petards!! LOL!!
Check and mate!
