The consistently partisan Michael J. Fox

You probably have seen the disturbing Michael J. Fox videos endorsing Claire McCaskill, Ben Cardin and other Democratic candidates. We know he previously appeared this year on several episodes of Boston Legal, and we don’t remember any particular commentary about his disease at that time. Now we know why, courtesy of MSNBC:

Fox has appeared in ABC’s “Boston Legal” this season. In his scenes, taped over the summer, Fox does not shake or loll his head as he does in the Cardin commercial, but does appear to be restraining himself, appearing almost rigid at times.

A source with direct knowledge of Fox’s illness who viewed the Cardin ad said Fox is not acting to exaggerate the effects of the disease. The source said Fox’s scenes in “Boston Legal” had to be taped around his illness, as he worked to control the tremors associated with Parkinson’s for limited periods of time.

Clearly, the producers of the ads and the producers of the TV show had different objectives in mind. We were a little surprised to find out today that these current commercials are not Mr. Fox’s first foray into Democratic Party politics. He previously made a commercial for John Kerry in 2004 that covered pretty much the same ground, but did not have the same dramatic impact. You can watch the video here.

UPDATE

You are probably also familiar with the commentary by Mary L. Davenport, MD at The American Thinker, titled “The Unconscionable Claims of Michael J. Fox.” She notes in the piece: “The plain fact is that embryonic stem cell research is proving to be a bust. There are currently 72 therapies showing human benefits using adult stem cells and zero using embryonic stem cells.” We reproduce below that rather compelling graphic:

72-0 seems to be a statistic to take seriously.
