Kerry: get an education or get “stuck in Iraq”
Yale man John Kerry’s advice for students in a recent address to students was this — study hard, or you’ll wind up some stupid hayseed who is “stuck in Iraq.” The video is here. Undoubtedly, that is what he really thinks. (HT: Drudge)
John Kerry is simply a well-connected preppy jerk who has used his military service as a cudgel for the last 35 years. It was evident in this Harvard Crimson story from 1970:
“I have a somewhat Establishment background,” Kerry admitted modestly. Kerry, whose family comes from Groton, attended Fessenden, a prestigious private school in West Newton, until he was old enough to go to St. Paul’s. From there he went on to Yale where he majored in political science.
Kerry’s interest in politics began in 1960, when John Kennedy was running for President. Kerry gave his first political speeches for JFK and at St. Paul’s founded a political group, the John Winant Society. In the summer of 1962, Kerry worked for Ted Kennedy, who was then making his first Senate bid. “I wanted to see how the political machine works.”
At Yale, Kerry was instrumental in organizing the demonstrations for giving tenure to philosophy professor Dick Bernstein, even though Bernstein had not done very much publishing. As President of the Political Union, Kerry met an impressive array of political figures and spent much of his time fighting for a new YPU building, which Yale eventually built….
Immediate withdrawal from Vietnam, Kerry said, would take about seven months due to complex logistics problems. During that interval he would allow only “self-defense return of fire.” “Logistic suport is now what Nixon is talking about leaving there and I don’t want to see that. I don’t think we should leave support troops there and I don’t think we should give Vietnam any more than the foreign aid given any other one country.” He does not feel there would be a massive slaughter of American, sympathizers once the United States pulled out.
In America, “everybody who’s against the war is suddenly considered anti-American,” Kerry said. “But I don’t think they can turn to me and say I don’t know what’s going on or I’m a draft dodger.” Referring to the House Armed Services Committee, chaired by L. Mendel Rivers (D-S.C.), Kerry said, “I want to go down to Washington and confront Medel Rivers, who never fought in a war….
“I’m an internationalist. I’d like to see our troops dispersed through the world only at the directive of the United Nations.”
It is amazing that he has gotten away with the same schtick for a third of a century, being deeply anti-military, but using his brief moment of military service as a weapon against his opponents. A troubled man, in our view.

Kerry has had more than his 15 minutes in the spotlight! How ignorant a statement can a Senator make…?! No, I am not a pro-Iraq citizen rather an American proud of all the men and women in the services. What are the young to think? Being in the service is for dropouts and dummies? Consider this, the men and women from our service academies are the very finest our country has to offer…academically and giving of themselves for our country. It is time for Kerry to hand the microphone to others…perhaps someone who studied in college and obtained better that a C average….surely our country and Senate deserve a higher level of debate!

WASHINGTON: Hundreds of US soldiers have signed a petition calling for a troop withdrawal from Iraq and the document is to be formally presented to Congress in January, organizers said Monday. “As a patriotic American proud to serve the nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to support the prompt withdrawal of all American military forces and bases from Iraq,” the petition says. “Staying in Iraq will not work and is not worth the price. It is time for US troops to come home,” it says. The campaign’s website, http://www.appealforredress.org, says the petition is sponsored by active duty service members based in the Norfolk, Virginia area and by a sponsoring committee of veterans and military family members. The committee includes Iraq Veterans against the War, Veterans for Peace and Military Families Speak Out. “Many active duty, reserve, and guard service members are concerned about the war in Iraq and support the withdrawal of US troops,” the website says. “The Appeal for Redress provides a way in which individual service members can appeal to their congressional representative and US senators to urge an end to the US military occupation,” it says. One of the campaign’s activists told AFP hundreds of soldiers have signed the petition. According to a local newspaper, the Virginian-Pilot, the petition’s leader is Jonathan Hutto, a sailor on the Norfolfk-based aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt. His website was activated in October, the daily said. afp

Hi, first i would like to say there is no air training institute in afghanistan. So Alqaida can have no way of training terrorists. 2ndly in Iraq if americans kill relative of someone then what response do you expect , they would try to take revenge from army at least by throwing stones on them. And the insurgents are there are only those who have been betrayed by american army. Now they are liberating their country from illegal occupation of USA in iraq.
