Iran and 9-11, again

Edward Jay Epstein:

although the CIA was unable to trace the origin of the money supplied to Atta, the [9-11] commission deemed this gap “of little practical significance” since the CIA’s prisoners established that no one else was involved in the plot.

Thus, too, when the CIA found that Iran had “apparently facilitated” the travel of eight of the 9/11 muscle hijackers in flights to and from Afghanistan (by not putting the required stamps on their passports, and by having a top Hezbollah official accompany their flights in and out of Iran), the commission could nevertheless rule out the possibility Iran or Hezbollah were “aware of the planning.” The basis for this conclusion was the information provided by KSM and Binalshibh.

But what if these CIA prisoners–who after all are diehard jihadists–were lying?

We have written before on Iran’s surfacing in July 2001 with knowledge of 9-11. If it emerged as definitively proven that Iran, which has been in some state of war with the US for 28 years, and which has sponsored numerous terrorists attacks on Americans, were involved in the execution of 9-11, should anyone be surprised?

The 9-11 Commission’s report was a blatant partisan political exercise. Jamie Gorelick should have been testifying under oath, not a member.

I am wary of trying to attach blame for 9-11 to Iran. Wasn’t KSM waterboarded? If we broke him and rolled up his associates, it defies logic that he could have known of Iranian involvement and kept it from us. I say possible, but unproven. It’s not like we need any additional reasons to go after Iran.
