The Iranian news agency, IRNA, gives a rave review the speech of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at Columbia University:

amid standing ovation of the audience that had attended the hall where the Iranian President was to give his lecture as of early hours of the day, Ahmadinejad said that Iran is not going to attack any country in the world…The audience on repeated occasion applauded Ahmadinejad when he touched on international crises.

That’s how a certain segment of the world’s media will characterize the speech, now that Columbia gave Ahmadinejad a forum and a microphone. The nuance and the protests (and the protests) likely count for next to nothing among the intended global media audience for the spectacle.
