Dangerous nonsense

President Bush:

I believe in an almighty God, and I believe that all the world, whether they be Muslim, Christian, or any other religion, prays to the same God…I believe that Islam is a great religion that preaches peace. And I believe people who murder the innocent to achieve political objectives aren’t religious people.

We just don’t know where to begin with this dangerous, ahistorical nonsense. So we’ll perhaps just focus on the least wrong part of Bush’s statement. From the Encyclopedia Britannica: “Polytheism - the belief in many gods. Polytheism characterizes virtually all religions other than Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, which share a common tradition of monotheism, the belief in one God.”

Follw-up question for the President: Are people “religious” who believe it is okay to prohibit churches and synagogues in their country, or who persecute missionaries, threaten women for talking, or who think it is okay to “command good and forbid evil” to the extremes of putting people to death for apostasy or homosexuality?

Amazing. How can anyone involved at a strategic level in the War on Terror be so ignorant about their opponent? “Allah” was taken from the Arab patheon of pagan gods - it was the name for the moon god - when Mohammen codified Arab polytheism into the pagan monotheism we know today as “Islam”. The so-called “Allah” bears no relationship or similiarity to the God of Judeo-Christian teaching. It derives from an utterly foreign source.

Think about it. “Allah” specifically instructs its followers to violate half the Ten Commandments. The are not merely encouraged to murder, loot, rape, enslave and lie to unbelievers, they are ordered to! The only ‘peace’ there is the peace of the grave.

There seems to be a lot of debate here in the United States. Many people are trying to suggest that the God Allah of the Muslims is not the same God of the other monotheistic religions. This is a very serious misunderstanding of Islam and I am surprised it is so common in this society. The very essence of the message of Islam is that there is no other God than Allah. The God of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Mohammad.

I begin to understand why no Muslims own patents…

Saleem, try applying some reason to your position.

The Judeo-Christian God gave Adam free will. Your god demands men be slaves, and women worse than slaves. Adam’s God does not accept worshippers or souls that are not freely offered

Allah is not the God of Adam.

You would have us believe that, a few thousand years after Jehovah gave Moses the Ten Commandments, he appeared before Mohammed and said, “You know those Commandments? I want to change them. Remember, ‘thou shall not commit murder’? Forget it. I want you to kill any one unwilling to be my ’slave’. Yeah, and murder a few of my slaves as well under the right circumstances. Yeah, I know that’s most of the people on the planet. So what. ‘Don’t covet thy neighbor’s wife’? Forget it. Rape the infidel bitches. ‘Bear false witness’? I want you to lie to every infidel, even when the truth would be better for you.”

Whatever gave Mohammed his marching orders, it wasn’t the God of Moses. The Christian God is not a two-faced, murderous barbarian.

When Jesus said, “I am the Resurrection and the Life,” he didn’t say ‘until someone tells you different’, or ‘offer expires on __’. Despite Mohammed’s attempt at a retroactive demotion, Jesus was the Messiah and the Son of God, which makes Mohammed what? The red-headed step-child? Remember, Mohammed didn’t create Mohammedism until after the Pope of the Byzantine Church had rejected Mohammed’s demand to be declared a saint of the Eastern Orthodox Catholic Church.

I could accept Allah as being the god of Baal worshippers. I could even see him as the god of Kali worshippers. Anyone who believes he’s the God of the old or new Testament, or of Adam, Moses and Jesus doesn’t know anything about Christianity.

Omniscient, omnipotent beings don’t completely reverse course every few thousand years.
