The tiresome manipulators

If there is anything more tiresome than the staged and phony moments of a certain Democratic candidate’s campaign, it is a media apparatus that says that there is “no evidence of manipulation” in these transparently contrived media events. The LA Times has the latest small atrocity, a so-called “spontaneous” moment that was obviously staged for the cameras, like so many others:

someone pointed out that Clinton’s childhood Sunday-school teacher, Rosalie Bentzinger, from her Park Ridge, Ill., days, happened to be right there in the very same Iowa fire station at that same moment. Can you believe it?

The Sunday-school teacher stood up. Clinton rushed over. They hugged. The 84-year-old Bentzinger gave Clinton a photograph she happened to have with her. And Clinton announced, “She has a picture of my confirmation class — March 27, 1959.”

A Powerline reader added: “Ms. Bentzinger is a well-known regliious scholar and leader and even has a religious scholarship named after her. Hard to believe Clinton did not recognize her in the crowd, considering they shared BBQ together a few months earlier.”

Absurd. It is perfectly plausible that Mrs. Clinton did not recognize her well known teacher, with whom she shared a meal a few months ago. Just as plausible as that an 84 year old lady would, spontaneously and unassisted, lug photographs from 1959 to fire stations far away from home. Could all these people please just leave the scene as soon as possible.
