Jay Cost in RCP (here and here) has some reflections on momentum in the primaries. The pieces are interesting and well worth thinking about. One item of interest is the chart above. It would appear to indicate that, with the exception of the 1992 Democratic race, the eventual nominee of each party has won either Iowa or New Hampshire in recent years. It will be interesting to see if this trend persists in this fairly unusual presidential competition.
