Where is this community organizing heading?

The other day it was a special presidential fleece that we were offered by the apparently never ending Obama campaign. Now we get this invitation:

Change Is Coming — Find a House Meeting…..On November 4th, Americans voted overwhelmingly for change and a new direction. People like you made this historic victory possible, but the election was just the beginning.

On December 13th and 14th, supporters all across the country are coming together to reflect on this monumental journey and plan on how they can bring change to both Washington and their own communities. Find a Change is Coming house meeting in your neighborhood by entering your zip code on the right.

We are reminded of an old saying that may or may not be apt. Whoever said that socialism would take up too many evenings or too many meetings (Oscar Wilde?) had a point. The dreary sessions we imagine above are one’s man’s vision of hell.

One interesting question is where all this community organizing is heading. Is the feeling of being involved and having “input” enough? Or is something bigger afoot? What is the “change” that is coming that has been (at least so far) less than apparent from the new administration’s conventional and mostly mainstream cabinet choices?

I am glad to know that I am not the only person this bothers. The Obama organization recently sent an email to supporters telling them that it was time to organize and that they should be forming their groups with leaders who will be train in Obama’s “style” of organization. The email was not specific as to who would be paying for a copy of Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals.

Something is in the air. Where does all this “organizing” lead to? Where have we seen it before? Germany, 1936 ring a bell?

Now, before all your left wing readers start slamming me for any reference to Hitler, they must remember that besides being mad, Hilter was a powerful politician who believed in organizing groups to do his bidding. Is the Obama jugend in our future?
