A little over the top?

James Hansen has had a lot of odd and extreme ideas. He has wanted to try CEO’s of energy companies for “high crimes against humanity and nature” — who should be the judges of crimes against “nature”, by the way? Now he says we only have four years to save the earth. UK Guardian

Barack Obama has only four years to save the world. That is the stark assessment of Nasa scientist and leading climate expert Jim Hansen who last week warned only urgent action by the new president could halt the devastating climate change that now threatens Earth. Crucially, that action will have to be taken within Obama’s first administration, he added. Soaring carbon emissions are already causing ice-cap melting and threaten to trigger global flooding, widespread species loss and major disruptions of weather patterns in the near future. “We cannot afford to put off change any longer”…

The widespread current record cold aside, Hansen’s apocalyptic rhetoric seems a tad out of place when he can’t even keep his own data straight.

Recently I’ve seen a couple of other high profile Global-Warmng types who have been saying, “Urgent action needed now! We must act immediately!” I’ve wondered whether the reason why was that they knew that if they didn’t manage to get their program through in the next couple of years, that it would become increasingly apparent to the general public that their “evidence” has been a tissue of lies.

In particular, if we are indeed going into another solar minimum, which some have suggested, than it’s gonna get REALLY COLD and it’ll be hard or impossible to convince voters to destroy their lifestyles in order to preveng Global Warming.

So they need urgent action now (or in the next 4 years) because it won’t be possible after that.

More snow yesterday and last night. This has been a wonderful winter thus far, cold and snowy, and cozy indoors.

Rather than try Energy Company CEOs for some fictitious crime based on Mr Hansen’s novel idea of the law ought to be, I’d prefer to see Mr Hansen prosecuted for fraud. My taxes helped pay for his fraudulent research.

I agree entirely MarkD. Hansen is an incompetent fool, a liar, or both. The way he fudges his data to make it look like warming as occurred is disgusting. But, it does speak volumes about the real meaning of “man-made global warming” – the “data” that “supports” it is all man-made.
