Euphoria
There are a million examples of Obama euphoria in the media. In the last few days, “many politicians, academics, opinion leaders and others spoke to correspondents of The New York Times around the world about Mr. Obama in terms verging on euphoria.” For example, the youth of the world said, “Obama has created so much euphoria and joy.” A governor said at one of the inaugural balls said, “you can sense the genuine euphoria,” on what the Times and IHT said was a “night of euphoric celebration in Washington.” There’s plenty of euphoria this week, in Washington and around the globe. The euphoria has even created “communal kindness” in unexpected places. (Hard not to get teary eyed at all this happiness.)
Eight years ago, there was less euphoria in the media. But the euphoria was still from the Democratic side. The NYT, in its sole use of the term around the time of the 2001 Bush inaugural, said this: “‘In the Senate we can stop anything, and they have to remember that,’ said Senator John Kerry…’If we are unified, there has to be some bipartisan effort.’ Senate Democrats said the euphoria over their election gains made them likely to hold together.”
At last. Gaia’s in her heaven, and all’s right with the world. No doubt the media coverage over the next four years will continue this impressive streak of balance and impartiality.

The guard dogs want to mate with the wolves, so the sheep figure the wolves are now just guard dogs too. It’s all good, what could go wrong?
