Now we understand: first public option, then single payer
Now we understand why President Obama has been willing to say all manner of nonsense to get his healthcare plan across the finish line. (He uses phrases that are polling well at any given moment, whether or not they have anything to do with the subject at hand, so they sound okay in passing, but are revealed to be gibberish when analyzed.) He and his allies understand clearly that, over time, the public option he proposes will ultimately lead to a single payer system in the United States. Pity he won’t talk clearly about it anymore. But then the simmering frog just might wake up.

Our President does not have it within him to tell the truth (as we know it) if it conflicts with his vision for the “greater good.” His words are defined by him and mean exactly what he chooses for them to mean. How do you deal with such a person?
