Portrait of a “high level Republican political operative”
The DNC ad about Republican “mobs” is even funnier than we first thought. At 40 seconds the narrator intones ominously that “this mob activity is straight from the political playbook of high-level Republican political operatives,” and shows a graphic. Jonah Goldberg takes it from there:
The DNC ad points to a memo written by an activist named Bob MacGuffie as proof that Republican political ops are pulling the strings. It turns out that MacGuffie, a decent-seeming fellow, is a rank amateur whose Right Principles PAC has collected a mere $5,017 and disbursed the staggering sum of $1,777, and has 23 members on Facebook and five followers on Twitter, according to The Weekly Standard’s Mary Katharine Ham.
Apparently it doesn’t take much in the mind of the DNC to be a “high level Republican political operative.” (BTW, MacGuffie also says, “George Bush was awful.”)
