Okay then

Bloomberg:

“For us to say that you’ve got to take a responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase,” Obama said in an interview on ABC’s “This Week” program. “Right now everybody in America, just about, has to get auto insurance. Nobody considers that a tax increase.”

Gotta love that “just about” caveat, which (a) invalidates Obama’s premise, and (b) is just factually wrong in a number of areas of the country.

We wonder whether Stephanopoulos followed up; on second thought, we don’t wonder.

Uh, most importantly you only need auto insurance if you own a car–this tax would be for having the temerity to continue breathing for free.

It is not a tax increase, it is forced, dictatorial robbery. No different than having to buy mafia laundry service. Although basically just like taxes I’ll get to keep( Oh, Thanks you Master!) my hard earned money from what few days of the working year that I a modern American working serf still have to myself.

His comparison is correct as far as it goes. But it falls apart when you add the simple fact that if you can’t afford the health insurance mandated by the federal government then they (the federal government) will help you purchase the insurance with funds they (the fed) provide. Unless these funds are taken from some other federal program or the government runs a business where they make enough of a profit to cover these costs (OK, you can stop laughing now) the only way the insurance in this case will be paid for is through increased taxes.

Either this man is totally incompetent or he is the biggest fibber (I didn’t want to use the “L” word) of all time.
