It’s getting kind of personal
Thomas Sowell comments on the KSM-NYC story and doesn’t pull punches:

In the wake of the obscenity of a trial of terrorists in federal court for an act of war — and the worldwide propaganda platform it will give them — it may seem to be a small thing that President Obama has been photographed yet again bowing deeply to a foreign ruler. But how large or small an act is depends on its actual consequences, not on whether the politically correct intelligentsia think it is no big deal.
As a private citizen, Barack Obama has a right to make as big a jackass of himself as he wants to. But, as President of the United States, his actions not only denigrate a nation that other nations rely on for survival, but raise questions about how reliable our judgment and resolve are
It does seem crazy to give our enemies military intelligence, all the more so since the announced rationale for bringing KSM to New York doesn’t explain the logic of the decision. What is the reason for this nutty decision? Andy McCarthy says it’s politics, but we’ve heard quite a number of people expressing far more troubling thoughts.

by moving a trial from a military tribunal to federal court, obama has committed treason.
this move directly aids and abets our enemy – an enemy we are explicitly at war with – detailed in the 2001 AUMF.
at the very least obama should be impeached.

To authorize the use of United States Armed Forces against those responsible for the recent attacks launched against the United States.
Whereas, on September 11, 2001, acts of treacherous violence were committed against the United States and its citizens; and
Whereas, such acts render it both necessary and appropriate that the United States exercise its rights to self-defense and to protect United States citizens both at home and abroad; and
Whereas, in light of the threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States posed by these grave acts of violence; and
Whereas, such acts continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States; and
Whereas, the President has authority under the Constitution to take action to deter and prevent acts of international terrorism against the United States: Now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This joint resolution may be cited as the `Authorization for Use of Military Force’.
SEC. 2. AUTHORIZATION FOR USE OF UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES.
(a) IN GENERAL- That the President is authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons, in order to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States by such nations, organizations or persons.
(b) War Powers Resolution Requirements-
(1) SPECIFIC STATUTORY AUTHORIZATION- Consistent with section 8(a)(1) of the War Powers Resolution, the Congress declares that this section is intended to constitute specific statutory authorization within the meaning of section 5(b) of the War Powers Resolution.
(2) APPLICABILITY OF OTHER REQUIREMENTS- Nothing in this resolution supercedes any requirement of the War Powers Resolution.

He won’t make a determination. No, let me change that: he can’t make a determination. Remember, he voted “present” on most everything where he couldn’t find cover. There is no cover for him here so he will turn this over to someone else (an alternative way to vote present). I believe it’s a win-win for the liberals no matter what happens because they can blame Bush for the “atrocities” that were committed on his watch or use the same logic to blame him if KSM is set free!
And please, don’t say they don’t want this. You give them credit they don’t deserve. If they didn’t want the worst to happen they would not even go down this road.
My fear is that of the unintended consequenses of these acts. There are many and few, if any, are being discussed.
Make this an issue in the next cycle of elections. Ask if your congressperson is in favor of these trials being held in civilian courts. If they are, tell them you’ll work to have him or her voted out of office in 2010. Watch how quickly the tune will change.

Any nation which trust President O’Dumbo had better be ready for a sucker punch. China isn’t that stupid but they’ll play him for a sucker as long as there’s a buck in it for them.
