Common sense is uncommon
An awfully big deal is being made about some academics who apparently made up some rather dramatic global warming data (here, here and here for example). We hope the fraudsters take it in the shorts. It’s pretty obvious that there’s good money (and high praise) to be had in being a global warming alarmist, and so fraud will surely follow — and it has.
Whether the exposure of the fraudsters changes this faith-based debate remains to be seen, however. When the earth heats or cools a bit, the reason is probably solar activity, though it’s always possible there are some other factors at work as well. What is assuredly not the cause is an absolutely trivial — from 280 to 380 ppm — increase over the course of a century in a gas essential to life on earth. Indeed, it seems to us plausible that the slight rise in CO2 is an effect, not a cause.
In any event, the hysteria generated by the Tipping Point crowd about potential consequences decades in the future ought itself to be clear evidence that common sense has vanished and that in all likelihood your pocket is being picked by these seemingly earnest preachers. That particular Great Awakening still lies in our future, however.

Pseudo intellectuals felt so superior by jumping on the AGW bandwagon. They were bravely leading the charge to “save the planet” from the working unwashed masses.
But now they are committed, and are clinging to their AGW religion and their arrogance. As their phony world is exposed as a sham, they are exposed as ignorant and gullible cultists, following a goofy guru like puffed up Al Gore.
Gore … the science genius that just stated the temperature of the center of the earth is millions of degrees. And he said it with the same condescending little chuckle he uses for all his impartation of vast science “wisdom” …
Their religion certainly does need its “Great Awakening” … but it only seems to transform to some other nutty cause. “They” effectively killed millions by banning DDT, now they want to destroy capitalism by making most energy rates “skyrocket”. Our enemies want to destroy US with this fake environmentalism … and it seems the enemy is within.

You’re right, they are just trying to pick our pockets. The socialists locked onto this as a way of furthering their agenda through a topic that most people believe in using cute and cuddly (carniverous) polar bears. The moment someone says to me the discussion is over, well as far as I’m concerned, that means the discussion should be just beginning.
Now that’s been said, I still ask the same question I’ve been asking the AGW folks for several years now. I believe it was in the early part of this century that a complete village (proabably Norse) was uncovered on either Iceland or Greenland. It had been covered for centuries by a glacier. My question is this: How did those settlers build that village under the ice? Answer that and I’ll be an AGW supporter.
