The opposition yells louder that the majority are fools and worse

Following in the grand tradition of lecturing the 70% who don’t agree with the MSM (and mocking them as morons), Eugene Robinson thinks he knows exactly what needs to be done to improve America’s situation, and by the way, he also has an opinion about those who disagree with him:

Americans are in a mood to hold their breath until they turn blue. Voters appear to be so fed up with the Democrats that they’re ready to toss them out in favor of the Republicans — for whom, according to those same polls, the nation has even greater contempt. This isn’t an “electoral wave,” it’s a temper tantrum…there’s no mistaking the public mood, and the truth is that it makes no sense…it’s impossible to ignore the obvious: The American people are acting like a bunch of spoiled brats…

New foundations have to be laid for a 21st-century economy, starting with weaning the nation off of its dependence on fossil fuels, which means there will have to be an increase in the price of oil. I don’t want to pay more to fill my gas tank, but I know that it would be good for the nation if I did.

The richest Americans need to pay higher taxes — not because they’re bad people who deserve to be punished but because they earn a much bigger share of the nation’s income, and hold a bigger share of its overall wealth. If they don’t pay more, there won’t be enough revenue to maintain, much less improve, the kind of infrastructure that fosters economic growth.

Two points: (a) does Mr. Robinson know anything at all about business? (b) favoring the Arizona law, opposing Obamacare, opposing the Ground Zero Mosque, and so forth are positions held by up to 70% or more of the people. So Robinson’s position is that 70% of the country are “spoiled brats”? Charming.

Sorry, Mr. Robinson but I grew up on a farm and well know the delicate aroma of bovine excrement. “Tax the rich” is the biggest fraud of our time. Let’s explain this in a manner that most can understand. Do you believe that we can raise.Bill Ford’s taxes by a million dollars without the price of Ford automobiles going up and more automakers being laid off? The truth is the all of us are paying these taxes. The “rich” have become little more than tax collectors for free-spending politicians.

  2. Thomas Jackson Says:

The question is will the establishment GOP heed the rage of Americans? Will they push amnesty? More welfare programs? Will they push American industries offshore?

    What alternatives will they offer?

Palin and the Tea Party offer options the Romney’s and their ilk offer the same old tired nostrums.

Robinson’s opinion is worth what I paid for it.
