A harsh verdict from the Democratic and media establishment
Mark Halperin lets us in on the conversations that are going on behind the scenes in Washington. Here’s what has become the conventional wisdom among inside-the-beltway Democrats:
most politically engaged elites have reached the same conclusions: the White House is in over its head, isolated, insular, arrogant and clueless about how to get along with or persuade members of Congress, the media, the business community or working-class voters.
This view is held by Fox News pundits, executives and anchors at the major old-media outlets, reporters who cover the White House, Democratic and Republican congressional leaders and governors, many Democratic business people and lawyers who raised big money for Obama in 2008, and even some members of the Administration
Two years ago Halperin observed that virtually the entire old media establishment was in Obama’s pocket. Of course that has changed. But what is notable is the harshness of the verdict: “in over its head, isolated, insular, arrogant and clueless.”
Obama has shown that it is possible to govern against the will of a majority of the people. Now perhaps we’re going to find out whether it is possible to govern against the will of Democrat-media establishment. Initial signs are not encouraging for the administration.

“in over its head, isolated, insular, arrogant and clueless.” So who’s finger is on the button?
