You’re a bad boy, Rick Santelli
Martin Frost is a former congressman. We remember having lunch with him and giving him a check from our firm’s PAC in the 1980′s. He was a mild-mannered guy. Here he is today. Politico:
Ten years ago, the Taliban in Afghanistan destroyed two gigantic figures of Buddha, carved into a hillside 18 centuries before. The world was aghast at this barbarian act taken in the name of religious purity. But was powerless to stop it. We now have a group of U.S. politicians seeking political purity, who seem to have much in common with the Taliban. They are tea party members; and because of blind adherence to smaller government, they seem intent on risking destroying what American political leaders have constructed in more than two centuries of hard, often painful work. Like the Taliban, they see compromise as an unacceptable alternative…there is no need to blow up centuries old religious statues — or two centuries of American government.
Take that! Rick Santelli for your terrorist ways. And while we’re at it, aren’t you one of those angry suicide bombers, Mr. Glenn Reynolds? We’re not sure that it is a wise political strategy for the White House and its allies to insult average Americans in this way. But it is clarifying, isn’t it?

WOW … for two centuries “craftsmen” have been making our limited government bigger, more oppressive, more bureaucratic, more corrupt … and taxes creep higher and higher as a percentage of GDP.
If we can really destroy that statist monolith in one fell swoop … tell me how.
Somehow I don’t put creeping corrupt communism on the same level as historic relics. Oppression is as old as the hills, and as common. The left has been eroding our Lady Liberty, not improving it.

Expect Progressive reactionaries to become even more inflamatory and antagonistic in their rhetoric. They see increasing numbers of rational, forward-thinking citizens rejecting collectivism and autocratic government. Rejecting serfdom.
For liberal reactionaries clinging to their power and the outmoded and bankrupt utopian ideology which justifies it, violence will become an increasingly attractive option.
Look for more efforts to disarm the public, more Acorn and SEIU-style thuggery targeting individuals and their families, more use of public employees unions to crush dissent, more voter fraud, and greater regulation and criminalization of normal personal and business activities.
The Fascism at the heart of liberal ideology will not relinquish power peaceably.

Remember… if you dare to complain about Democrats spending your children’s future, you are a “terrorist”.
